Texas Government Code, Chapter 552, gives you the right to access government records.  All government information is presumed to be available to the public, although exceptions may apply to the disclosure of some information.

Read more about the Public Information Act.

    Procedures to Obtain Information

    1. Submit a request by mail, fax, in person, or via the online tool according to Runnels Central Appraisal District (RCAD) procedures.
    2. Include enough description and detail about the information requested to enable the government body to accurately identify and locate the information requested.
    3. Cooperate with our reasonable efforts to clarify the type or amount of information requested.

    Information to be Released

Appraisal District staff will make every effort to produce the information requested as promptly as possible.  If it cannot be produced within 10 working days, we will notify you in writing of the reasonable date and time when it will be available.

    Cost of Records

You must respond to any written estimate of charges within 10 days of the date the governmental body sent it or the request is considered automatically withdrawn.  RCAD has fewer than 16 full time employees; therefore, we may require a bond, prepayment or deposit.  If you believe the information requested primarily benefits the general public, you may ask us for a waiver or reduction of charges.

All mutually agreed charges should be paid in a timely manner.  RCAD can demand payment of overdue balances exceeding $100, or obtain a security deposit, before processing additional requests from you.

    OIL, GAS & MINERAL

Due to the high levels of complexity and specialization required for oil, gas and mineral appraisals, RCAD contracts these appraisal services out to a third party company: Wardlaw Appraisal Group. For inquiries related to these types of properties, please reach out to Wardlaw directly.
