Our website contains general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas. The Runnels Central Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Runnels County according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices.
APPRAISAL CALENDAR – DISCOVERY PHASE
The appraisal season for the 2022 tax year has begun. Appraisers will be out in the field performing on-site inspections and appraisals in the cities/towns – Ballinger, Winters, Miles, Wingate, Rowena, and Norton – until April 2022. RCAD appraisers will always have signs and lights on their vehicles; safety vests, business cards, name tags or badges, and other identification on their persons; and appraisal equipment including (but not limited to) measuring apparatus, cameras, tablets, etc. Additionally, appraisers and their vehicles may be equipped with body and/or dashboard cameras for security purposes.
Appraisers will always try to respect each property owner’s privacy and personal property. Should appraisers need to exit their vehicles in order to inspect and measure new structures, they will make an attempt to notify a resident on the property of their presence and intentions. If no one is home and the structure is safely accessible, they will proceed with data collection as efficiently as possible. If a property does not have safe and available access, appraisers will contact the owner in writing or by phone and we request a response as soon as possible so we can stay on track with our appraisal schedule.
